Customer Service / Cashier Job Description
We’re interested in enthusiastic, motivated individuals with exceptional customer service skills.
OUR GOAL:
Provide our customers with the highest quality services and products available, in a friendly environment, at a fair price, and in an efficient manner.
HOURS:
Part-time cashiers work an average of 32 hours per week; three 8 ½ – 10 ½ hour days per week. Full-time cashiers work an average of 40 hours per week; four 8 ½ – 10 ½ hour days per week.
WAGES:
Starting pay is $8.05/hour
VACATION:
Cashiers employed one full year are allowed one week paid vacation. Cashiers employed two full years or more are allowed two weeks paid vacation. Vacations must be taken during the months of June, July, and August. Vacations are taken one week at a time, not consecutive.
OPPORTUNITY TO WORK EXTRA HOURS:
At Octopus Car Washes, we rely on our part-time cashiers to help cover shifts for other cashiers who have vacation time available. This gives part-time cashiers the chance to work extra hours and earn additional income.
EXPERIENCE:
The ability to make change for cash transactions, use of a ten-key calculator, and knowledge of the use of fractions are important in this position.
About The Cashier Profession
The most important aspect of the Cashier Profession is CUSTOMER SERVICE. The cashier assists every customer: from ringing up purchases, to questions about our services. Because the cashier has contact with every customer, friendliness and courtesy are paramount. The cashier is a vital part of the Octopus team. We’re interested in dependable people who will work with other Octopus employees to give our customers the best service available. The job is fast-paced. We’re a high-volume business, and the ability to multi-task is a definite plus. There is paperwork that the cashier is expected to complete on a daily basis, as well as answering phone calls, keeping the lobby clean, stocking and inventory of resale items in the lobby.
The cashier is allowed a 30-minute lunch break. The job requires many hours of standing. Uniforms are required: Octopus provides shirts and sweat shirts, and shirts must be tucked in. Shoes and pants should be neat and clean. No jeans are allowed. No unusual, visible body piercing are allowed.
